Default Rear end noise

2005 2500 / HEMI / 4WD / QUADCAB

I have been to numerous shops and nobody can ID the problem, as it rarely happens.

What happens is, when driving a long distance, 25 miles or further, or when towing a trailer, I get off the exit and it has a spline noise. It happens on the first acceleration, but goes away after that unless I drive longer than 25 miles. It happens always when I tow a trailer, and rarely when do not. I do not want to rip apart the rear-end if someone has had the issue, or turns out to be the drive shat etc.

anybody had this issue?? What was the fix if you did.

sounds like you should jack the rear end off the ground, get under the truck and see if you have any up&down movement in the pinion,or play in the u joints and if the driveshaft has a splined slider(not sure) id check that also for up and down movement, those are the 3 simple checks you can do,if those check good then its probably coming from inside the rearend or transfer case itself..
