It's funny, but it doesn't seem to matter what engine is in a 3rd Gen 1500. People buy a V6 and don't get any better fuel economy than a Hemi. Underpowered actually hurts just as much as having a big, honking V8.
Most 4.7 QCSB 4x2s I've been around get around 13 city, 18 hwy. give or take 1 or 2 mpgs. When my Hemi 4x4 truck first rolled off the showroom floor and it was bone stock I got about 13/18. Even with 4" of lift, mods out the wazoo, 35" tires and weighing in at close to 7000 lbs. I still get about 12 MPG in all around use and can nip 16 mpg on the interstate...
