2003 Ram, I really miss Instant MPGs
My 99 Ram has this, a display that shows current fuel consumption. My 2003 does not, and I miss this. I read on Google that it was discontinued in 2002, is that correct? I can change information centers, that's no problem. I want the current MPGs. My '99 was most efficient at 62 MPG's in overdrive. I can't know this in my '03....Help?!?
Coasting, going downhill, with back winds, and ONLY if you press the reset button at that very moment....lmfao
Heck, I'm able to achieve 8mpg idling in my driveway says the overhead. Go figure that one out
Overhead displays are only accurate at the END of your tank as an average. Just because you may show 2mpg from a hard take-off doesn't mean you get 2mpg. Why? Because your not in that exact predicament for all of 2miles. Same as with 62mpg. In order to truly get 62mpg, you would have to drive 62 full miles in those same exact conditions before you can obtain that figure...Not gonna happen!
Also, just because my truck may say 23mpg when I'm going down the hill by my house, it also says 9mpg when I'm going up it. I do have to go up the hill before I can go down it right? Well, those figures average out to 16mpg which is the correct figure since it's an AVERAGE!
Don't be a sucker.

I am sure he was talking about 62 MPH not MPG. If you are running on the highway just hit the reset and monitor for a little while. The override is just an estimate based on how much fuel the computer thinks is going through the injectors.

LOL, I did mean MPH. Faster or slower and my consumption goes up a bit. But my instant seemed actually instant. Cruising, I get 25. Taking off, I get about 5. Loaded taking off, I get about 2. I found a unit from a 2002 1500, will swap it out and get back with the results
