As you already sdtated your pedal control is in that area. That cover was there stock and I think it's basically a pedal switch delete? Yes, indent was there before, geez, i'm not that good...lol I just mounted my switch into that filler piece because i can always buy a replacement filler when I remove it.

 

I realized that the next day. For some reason, I thought my pedal switch was way right of that location. The next day, I saw it was right above the e-brake release, and instantly knew that's why your installation looked so good.
