Default 4.7 Throws fan

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with 4.7 engine and manual 5 speed Transmission.

Currently it has 195,000KM or 122,000 miles. The rad headers started to leak from the OEM Rad. I purchased an after market Rad from CarQuest. While I was at it I changed the stock water pump for a Cardone rebuilt unit. This pump lasted 300 KM before the bearing went out on the shaft. I wondered if there was 1 bearing missing on this pump as the shaft had about 1/4 of runout when I removed it. I returned it and Car Quest gave me a new unit not rebuilt. Which I changed without problem and it has been in the truck for about 3,000 KM.

Last week I got the P0308 code. There has been some flooding over roads here where I live and I suspected that the #8 spark coil got wet. I changed the coil and spark plug as it was wet and reset the ECM with my scan tool. The engine light would not go out, but there was no codes present in the memory. Reluctantly I removed the battery cable to reset the light. The issue with disconnecting the battery is by doing this with the standard Transmission is that the engine will stall for about 3 hours of driving when I put the clutch in and coast to a stop.
Once the ECM learns and I have about 3 hours of run time on the engine the stalling issue goes away. Another thing that seems to be helpful is to run the engine up the Rev. limiter under no load to help in the learning process and for it to see the full travel of the TPS.

So after removing the battery cable for 5 minutes and re-installing it I started the engine and ran it up to the Rev. Limiter RPM of about 5500 rpm.

I heard a bang and shut the engine down. The fan, spacer and pulley had separated from the pump shaft. The fan went through the rad and destroyed the fan shroud. Now and I pissed. Doing some preventive maintenance like changing the water pump has been a nightmare. I called Car Quest but the manager is not in on Saturdays, I will take the load of failed parts to his store tomorrow. I expect to get a new pump, rad and a fan shroud. Do you think I am asking too much.

The fan is bent, I think I can straighten out the blades. Could use an opinion or two.

Thanks for all comments.

With 3K miles on the pump, I'll be surprised if they cover it, but it never hurts to ask.
You may also want to see if you can line up a new fan as the old one will have fatigued metal around the fan hub where the blades attach. Was this an oem fan/clutch/spacer assembly, or aftermarket ?

The fan, clutch and spacer were all OEM and the fan has 2 blades bent. I looked at Rock Auto and they don't have a listing for a fan or fan shroud so this is a dealer part or a part from the salvage yard. My new 2500 with manual 6 speed just came into the dealer 4 days ago. My 1500 is going to my nephew and I don't want to sell him a truck with problems. As for Car Quest I buy a lot of parts there for 5 vehicles that I service and repair. I am hoping that he will at least cover the pump and give me the rad at cost. Just to let you know the stock pump was fine, no leaks or bad bearings. So much for preventive maintenance.

Thanks for your input.

Try car-parts.com for the body parts. I have an oem air box coming for the dually in my sig. The previous owner put a K&N cai on it, and it has to go away.

I took the rad and water pump back to Car Quest. The manager gave me a new water pump and Radiator. What appears to have happened is that the bearing in the pump seized, the fan was turning and it was thrown off of the pump shaft.

I have found a fan/clutch and shroud at the wreckers for $110.

That is the best that can happen.
