Default Volant CAI

Any of you guys tried the Volant Cold Air Intake System. Looks like a pretty good setup. It looks like they even have an "Air Scoop" that attaches to the right fog light hole. Thanks.

Volant makes a good quality product, but be forewarned that the low pickup can suck up water. You wouldn't be the first to hydrolock the motor due to the air intake setup whether it be stock or aftermarket.

What do you mean by the Low pickup can suck up water?

Another question, I noticed another post in referance to removing the factory foglight in order to make the intake work properly. I guess that is to get some kind of makeshift ram air setup. Does this apply for the 06 as well?

I think by "low pickup" he means the intake being down that low will suck water in and push it to the motor. Not really a great thing to have happen.

Thats what I thought, mine doesnt come with the intake tube that goes down by the foglamp. I have to go look at my stock air box and check to see where the air is actually coming from. I think its the fenderwall, but not sure.

I have an 06 Ram QC Sport 5.7 HEMI 4x4. I have a Volant Cool air intake and Gibson Swept side exhaust. I have noticed a low end power increase and about 3 MPG increase. If I put it on cruise control at 65MPH on the freeway I get about 20 MPG. I love the Volant intake and Gibson exhaust. Highly recommended by me. You can see my truck on the Gibson Performance website under trucks/exhaust. It's the Grey Ram Sport 2500.

You can cut off a section of the air tube so it will mount behind the fog lamp. Also there are air holes on the side of the filter box to prevent ram air tube from pulling in water.

Nice, I will be running the Volant (when it comes in later today) and the Flowmaster american thunder side sweep exhaust. I love my Ram now, but getting 20MPG? Thats pretty damn good, I was seeing around 18 driving down to Ft.Benning a few weeks ago, but figured thats as good as im gonna get. It sure would be nice to see a little more low end power as well. I have been looking at the stock airbox, and its pretty restrictive.

Hubby and I have the Volant system in the twins. We've had it for a year and we love it!

i am thinking about getting a CAI for my ram. But have you really noticed much of a difference than stock? i looked at the instalation instructions and noticed that it was the only CAI that did not eliminate the resinator box on the top of the engine. the airaid and k&n eliminate it with a straight tube, but the voliant does look alot cleaner but it is the most expensive.
