Default 02 Dodge 1500 4Door Cruise Control

Well, my dad's 02 Dodge Ram 1500 4 door with the 4.7 4x4 has issues with cruise control. It doesn't work at all. It turns on the light and i go to set it and the light just goes out and doesn't work. I was curious as to what the common problems are. Any ideas anyone?

While this is occurring, is there a brake light and abs light lit on the dash. If so you will have to take it back to dealer for reconfiguration. If no lights are on check wires at the rearend speed sensor. Mine had a broken wire and it did the same thing. Cruise would only work at certain speeds and then it would turn itself off. Good luck

The previous owner redid the brake lines due to them going out and so when we acquired the truck, the lights were still on. Come to find out the reason they were on was because of a wire that was disconnected. So now we have no lights on for brakes or abs. But cruise never worked at all for us since acquiring it.

Check those wires at the speed sensor closely. Broken wire....no cruise
