Default Need to change the TIPM

Hi guys, due to a incorrect way to jump the battery with other car, the TIPM got crazy. After it was reprogrammed, everything is working fine again but the 4x4. Not even the 4x4 dash indicators work when try to drive on 4wd.
The dealer said that the tipm needs to be changed and wants $1200 for it. I found some sites on ebay that offer modules already programmed to the car for $500-$600 including shipping.
The question is if anyone has any experience on geeting a module on those places and if they are properly programmed?
By the way, the truck is a 06,QC,4x4,5.7L

Thanks

$1200 is outrageous. 2006 is higher than other years but geez... Does that porice include your core?

The dealers solution for anything electrical related is to change the tipm. Ask me how I know....
Has the switch been tested? The switch tells the dash light to light up.

The tipm will need to be configured to your vehicle or it will not work. I do not know if online sellers can do this properly??
Just remember this...If you buy online and have a dealer install and configure, they will not warranty any of their work or the module.
If you buy online, use a credit card so you can do a charge back if it is not as they state and refuse to give a refund on return.

Hi Randal, the owners manual explains how to jump correctly to avoid any damage. After what happened to my truck, I will avoid it as much as posible. In case you need it, make sure the red and black clamps do not touch each other when they are conected to the battery.

Hi Dirtydog, yes, that is a lot of money and they will keep the old one, not sure about the test of the switch.
I read in the shop service manual and found that there should be a Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) but I have not been able to find it, by any chance, do you know where is it?
Now I understand why the call it the death black box!!
