Default Electrical problem?

So ... a month ago I got hit by some 19 y/o chick not paying attention. Destroyed her subarau, $7000 worth of damage to my 2004 1500 Laramie.

Got the truck back from the body shop ... looks fantastic ... everything is back the way it was, if not better

Except for one thing

The "cigarette lighter" outlet in the arm rest ... was perfect before, now when I put my USB charging adapter in it ... it burns them out.

Like ... 3 different ones.

Was just body damage and the ambient temperature sensor ... what the heck happened? And more importantly ... how the heck do I go about fixing it?

Thanks!

Randy

OK ... so I talked to the repair shop over the weekend (they're open for 2 hours on Saturday) - they say they didn't touch the electrics at all, so the issue isn't theirs to resolve.

I'm gonna call my insurance company to see if they can do anything, but lacking that ... how do I test this? Is there a simple thing to check? The other 2 "cigarette lighters" work just fine (One always on near the floor, and the actual cigarette lighter slot up by the radio).

Check the output with a Volt meter, make sure the polarity is correct.
