Exclamation 05 1500 ram coded 2074

I current lost a water pump. Repaired. Overheated again. Blew radiator and head gaskets. Repaired. Started ran high 1500 or so r p m. Found accumulated leak fixed. Cut bad ends off hoses to get better vac seal. Coded 0016 replaced cam sensor and reset. Started it still won't idle runs rough. Coded 2074 so replaced map and the throttle position sensor. Has new plugs and air filter. Says computer mod. I don't know the lingo. First time working this much on dodge or anything newer than 94 ford. Chased down vac lines, no leaks I could see. Re torqued the manifold. Got to get this truck on the road to eat. Please help.

When you get a chance, type out complete sentences and list out what is going on....

from what I could understand was that you busted a water pump, over heated the block after new pump was installed, replaced cam angle sensor, and now it's still idling rough... so you replaced the MAP and TPS.... new plugs and air filter.....

I'm assuming you meant that someone told you the computer was "modded" so someone used a tuner or something to reprogram the PCM....

Rough Idle can be caused by a million and a half things.... you might need to reset the PCM by removing the positive battery terminal for a bit....

I believe some of the sensors that you replaced also might require a special "re-learn" to be done, which is outlined in the Service Manual... look for a user by the name of "Weedahoe" on here and click the link in his signature that says "Service manuals" and you can get the procedure that you'll need.

Also... don't cut the ends of your vacuum lines... REPLACE THEM... sometimes you have cracks or pin-holes that you just can't see.

I'd also consider replacing the EGR (if your truck is equipped with it)....

4.7 or 5.7?

When you replaced the head gaskets, did you have the heads shaved and maganfluxed for cracks?

It's the 4.7. No in my heart I knew I shouldve. It's not my truck. It's a pilot truck for wide loads and my boss wanted it back on road. Cracked head posssible? Had it in the back of my mind. She wants 5000 for this thing. Stuck a rag in the throttle body and tried to start it. Nothing. It did kinda rattle at the end of turning cycle. So I stopped I don't know and couldn't place rattle location. When it first coded p0016 after it had died on the road I tried to start it and it gave this same rattle. Thought I didn't get something tight. Brought it up to number one and checked timing. After inspection tried to start a few more times over two days no rattle. Tried to download your manual but to much info for my phone.

You can check this board or Google but 4.7s seems to have more overheating issues than the 5.7s. They will throw rocker arms also. You can pull the valve covers and watch each rocker move as it should. You can also do a leak down test on the heads but if you or anyone ever blows head gaskets, the heads (while off) should also be checked
