2004 5-45rfe trans temp light
new member here
I have checked other threads but couldn't find an answer to my problem
I have a 2004 1500 4X4 with a 5-45RFE transmission
the trans temp light comes on intermittently, some time i can drive all day no problems, some times the light comes on with in a mile from the time i start up
sometimes only comes on for a few seconds sometimes it comes on for a few minutes, the transmission temp runs about 155 degrees, I have changed the solenoid pack, the pressure switch and the filters and still the same issue
anyone have any suggestions or ideas
thanks

Have you checked the fluid level? If you've overfilled or underfilled the transmission you can see this problem too...
Does your truck have a transmission cooler? If so then you might have a clogged trans cooler.
Could be either clogged internally... or externally if you have a bunch of crap (bugs, road debris, tar, grime, oil, etc.) so you might need to get a cleaning agent and a hose and go to town on it....
I also want to know where you're reading 155* From....?

Glad you found the problem.
I wanted to add for others with a similar problem that old fluid cannot dissapate heat as good as new fresh fluid can, so overheating can be from old fluid as well.
