Default Goodbye, Goodyear.

Drove up the hill towards my house today and when I parked the truck I noticed it was billowing steam out from under the hood. Check this out!

Goodbye, Goodyear.-sfemn1j.jpg

The hose split at the clamp and then made a 90 degree turn and blew out the hose down its length.

Thankfully it was in the driveway and didn't overheat.

Well, at least we know where the weakness was at in it.

Little follow up here: Truck started missing, CEL came on. P0303, Cyl 3 misfire.

Pulled the coil and found a degraded o-ring and coolant in the plug well.

Normally I'd be worried but having just had the engine give its self a bath in coolant -- I'm not at all. Cleaned the plug and plug well, and the coil and re installed with new dialectic grease. Runs great!

Honestly, it looks like failure from improper installation/cheap clamp.
You may have either over tightened the clamp or caught the rubber on the housing edge with the clamp and it scored it. Bad clamp design. I hate those clamps.
They make slip style clamps that have a solid piece underneath and others that fold over the edges. They can eliminates side cutting and the cutting that happens in between the clamp slats that the screw rides in. Plus, there's more clamping area so you actually don't have to tighten as much.

Here' an example of a cheap one. You can see how there is an inner liner protector but the side are still as sharp on this one..

Here's the Ford style that works well too:

I'm having trouble finding an o-ring kit for these coils, can anyone help?

It's the 4.7. Need a full set of o-rings for the coils (8)
