Dodge Mega Cab dually big mistake
Few figures before you buy a Mega cab with 10,500# GVW.
Let me give a few more figures. My 2004.5 SRW QC 4x4 weighs 8,000#. I have added 2 full length rear leaf springs, 2" lift kit in front, rear sway bar & 250# Pullrite hitch.
Front GVW is 5200#s
Rear GVW is 6000#s
Truck GVW is 9000#

My truck with 2 adults, 2 footlongs and loaded 36' 5er is:

I would be willing to bet the new Mega cab dually will weigh 750#s more than my truck. Do the math with my loading for example.
8,000 plus 750 more for Mega cab = 8,750#
10,500 GVW
-8,750
---------
1,750 carrying capacity with dual wheels
I DON'T THINK SO................
CUMMINZ

I am saying that my 5er has 2240# pin weight and using my truck as example it figures that new Mega cab with 10,500# GVW will give you only 1750# carrying capacity. I hope they come out with heavier GVW package.
Interesting that adding several hundred pounds of people, plus over a ton on the pin, only added 20 lbs to the front axle.
Are you figuring on a 3/4 ton dually? As far as I know the dual rear wheel is only offered on 8' bed 1 ton trucks, which immediately rules out the Mega cab as it is only offered with a 6' bed.
Base curb weight, auto, 3500 drw 4x4 laramie = 7118
Base GVWR for same = 9900
of course that doesn't take options or people into account.
Max payload on a srw 3500 mega cab 4x4 is about 2500. But then again, it's a prettyboy/soccer mom/retiree truck, it's not really going to get worked that hard.

The empty weigh ticket included my wife and I and 2 footlongs. The same loading that we have when we are traveling minus the pin weight. I wanted to see exactly how the pin weight would distribute on the truck.

ah thanks.
well... when the specs are available for that one, we'll start looking at them, ok? Don't dump on it based only upon speculation and figures pulled from the air.
