Death Wobble & Vibration - My Fix (and fixes...etc)
Keep your dead horse. Cause I've got one here and I'm a gonna beat it.
'06 2500 Quad Cab w 150K on the Cummins
Bone stock (ok, tires slightly larger than stock, w Rancho shocks on the corners)
About 120K there was a vibration in the "drivetrain". Varied with speed. Replaced u-joints. Vibration moved purely to 65-70mph. Hmm...that's tire oscillation speed as well. Began reading forums and many many posts about the topic. Had first death wobble as I drove over a bridge seam at 70mph, where the seam was at an angle, so the front tires hit it at different times.
Solution (and YMMV) involved a bunch of parts as elaborated on other posts.
These killed the Death Wobble...
Thuren Fabrication track bar: http://www.thurenfabrication.com/3rdgentrackbar.html
Steering Brace: http://www.solidsteel.biz/
But as you know, it just pushes issues elsewhere, or hides it. I also replaced the ball joints with Moogs, and got new tires and had them balanced and alignment by a trusted tech.
Still...had a vibration at 65-75, could drive thru it, but that isn't good. One tech said it sounded expensive, like a bad bearing in an output shaft. Another said the rear diff (the dealer...hah, they said $5K...I said for that I'll buy a Dynatrac!).
The final fix, that I highly HIGHLY and "immediately-you-need-to-do-it" recommend, is to upgrade to 4th Gen of the linkage, pitman, steering stabilizer. Much beefier, and now it drives like the champ when I got it with 14 miles on the odometer. Nice that the dealer said that my vehicle didn't have the recall apply to it. Stealership at work again.
Mopar parts list for the linkage etc:
6505623AA QTY 3 - hex lock nut
5154661AC QTY 1 - steering shock
68039930AA QTY 1 - Pitman arm
52122362AH QTY 1 - steering linkage
Good luck with your fix. Pic of the new linkage & parts, the track bar & brace are visible near top:

Other cosmetic upgrades while you're at it, I did it all recently, feels like a "new" truck now. Without the $60K price tag (at least...geez they got pricey).
Corbeau seats. The stock seats are junk. The seats are about $300 or so...depends. But the $100 per side bracket is what hurt. Sure, it is just metal and what, $5. But it would take hours for me to properly fab them up, so I'm paying for time. Here's my completed pic:

There is a great write-up here that I followed for the easy install:

Stubby Antenna: who the heck has an antenna on a vehicle these days? Now I can look contemporary and whatnot. Ignored reviews, I use Sirius and a USB for music. But my reception in CO is fine, but I'm suburban/semi-rural and not much blocking signal.

its encouraging to see improvement on a 4 gen solid axle as im considering a 2500 3500. But for the 3rd gen crowd, dump as much mopar crap you can off thease trucks as you can.
I never experienced death wobble, but I did lose a drag link in my drive way..
Non serviceable components is a curse ..
Thanks for sharing your finds.
