air flow problem

air flow problem
2003 dodge ram. The recirc door had broke so I screwed the door over the fresh air intake. Still having a problem. The blower works fine and then it doesn't. Very frustrating. Could it be the vent positioning problem? There are many wires attached to the vent selector control. Some advice please!
