Default EVAP issues… codes 0171 0456 0441 0440

good day folks.

Long story, short version…

Was driving up the Coquihalla highway(yes the one from the TV show) fully loaded and with family. '03 1500 QC 4.7 with 290,000 km's on vehicle.

Truck suddenly started to lose power when i stepped on throttle to accelerate/pass. I let up on gas and returned normal but couldn't go faster than 60-65k/h (40m/h). this happened whenever stepped on gas. Limped up mtn and down into next town. waited for few hours and seemed ok but after starting out again, same thing. Since we were only 400 km into 3000 km journey and on long weekend, we decided to turn and head home after friendly stranger suggested it might be fuel pump.

On the way back up mtn I would stop every 15-20 km's and wait 5-10 minutes and things would work normal for awhile and then i would have to repeat. Once I was down and on very flat highway I could easily travel at 110 k/h without issue all the way home.

did the key trick and was shown the following codes:

0171 - fuel system lean
0440 - ?
0441 - EVAP purge flow monitor failure
0456 - EVAP leak monitor small leak detected

QUESTION: is this a simple fix and what parts needed?

I am heading out now to check hoses for cracks but what else do I look for?

Thanks for reading.

0171 is the one I would be concerned about right now......the other codes shouldn't cause ur truck to run that bad!!! Have u ever changed the o2 sensors yet?? The upstream sensor(s) would cause it to run like that and could cause 0171 code

No, I have not changed o2 sensors. Is it a simple change? I'll research threads here as well.

Went out and couldn't see cracks but was pretty dirty anyway.

did a re-boot by unhooking the battery and made codes disappear and took it for a 10 mile ride, but not on any steep hills. no issues yet and no codes re-appeared.

Check the vacuum line going to the evap purge solenoid, but it sounds like you are staving for fuel. I think the fuel pressure check is the first recommend diagnostic for the P0171 code. It will be interesting to find what is causing the problem.
