Default Should I replace my front shock absorbers?

At first I thought it was my ball joints. Didn't replace them since I have not had time for an alignment. Today I changed the fluid in the rear diff and decided to troubleshoot a little more. I had someone stand in the bed of the truck and bounce the *** end up and down to make the truck rock. I laid under the front and listened and felt around and I seem to think it is my shock.

It squeaks when compressing and noticeable on backroads that aren't as level as smooth as in town roads. I am thinking this is probably the problem. Any insight to check anywhere else before I throw my money into hopefully fixing this problem? Also, would I need to get an alignment after changing them? I figured if one is bad might as well just replace both.

Thanks.

I can't recall how buried the shocks are, but I think they are pretty easy to access. Could you just unhook the shocks and try it again? Squeeking gone = bad shocks.

If you are in the 50-60k range it's time for new shocks. OE shocks suck.

Replaced mine around 50k. Found 2 very weak, other two would not even decompress by themselves. As stated above they are junk. I would replace no matter what.

Alignment not needed with just shocks. I'd do it anyways if you haven't yet. I take mine to Brake Check and get their Lifetime deal, so when I get new tires I can have it done.

I was planning on doing just the front, Should do the rears too? And is there anyway to get a small 2inch lift or so out of doing this without spending a lot of money?

You should do all 4. Doesn't your truck have a leveling kit all ready? If so you should get longer shocks.
