Default IPM and TIPM Same thing?

Here's the story: Guy brought in his 2004 Dodge 1500 with electrical problems. I didn't have a good wiring diagram so I went on Ebay and found a $15 factory manual PDF for 2002-2008 Dodge trucks. So I got to digging into the IPM and what they show is completely different from what was under the hood. The one under the hood was shaped like the state of Idaho and what they showed was shaped like Wyoming. Completely different wiring connectors and fuse/relay configurations.

So did I get screwed on this manual or did I screw myself by not choosing the right one? Was there a change sometime after 2004 where they went from an IPM to a TIPM?

I believe 2006 they changed to what is called the TIPM. 2005 and older was referred to as the IPM I believe, they are similar in function but different units. I'm not sure what exactly changed between those years though.

2005 and older may also be referred to Fuse Box + FCM.

Thanks, that what I was afraid of. The seller has given me a link to the 2004, but it takes forever to open so I'm still not sure if it is correct. The sucky part is that the manual shows for a 2002-2008 but apparently the earlier wiring isn't included in that manual for some reason.

No big deal, I will just soldier on. Appreciate the help.

The IPM is a power unit that does not have a processor. It will have the Front Control Module or "Gateway" attached to the side of it.

The TIPM is both of those items INTEGRATED into ONE sealed unit. It is a computer and it still serves as the Gateway.

The Body Controller system was always more reliable and that's what they're reverting back to now.
