Default Fuel Cap Light

I have an 08 with the 5.7 Hemi. The gas cap light/readout on dash stayed on when I purchased the truck. After inspection of the cap, it looked pretty worn (the seal), so I replaced the cap with an OEM from the local dealership and reset the code. I make sure and click 3-4 times afer refueling, but the light is back on. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!

Usually the gas cap light/readout point to an emission leak, either large or small. Check under the truck, along the gas tank fill tube and around the gas tank. Look for the charcoal canister and any hoses coming out of that for cracks in the hoses. If they are cracked, change them out with fuel-rated hoses. You can get replacement hoses that are horse shoe shaped if they are from the canister, but those won't be fuel rated and you'll be back under there later.

You may want to check the evaporative system to be sure there is no other issue causing the light to remain on.
