rebuilt trans ??'s
OK, so, at 125k or so, my OEM trans just stopped working while driving on a hi way! rolled to side of road and that was it(trusk is an 06,2500 hemi auto,4x4x long bed)
prior to this, the trans never wanted to work on cold starts, unless I left it in N or gear for 10-15 seconds before trying to go, liek if I started truck, and just put it in reverse, , all that would happen is the motor would just REV, and no go?
wait 15 seconds and all would work fine
Local dodge dealer told me, needed fliuld flush and filter, this started at about 30k on the truck
dealer did the service, and stil same issue's
they then told its a common deal in dodge trucks and NOT to worry about it, just let it sit in "N" for a few seconds to build peressure then go to gear
that seemed to work fine?
at like 80 k, I replaced fluids again with Amsoil and that didnt make any changes in this issue, BUT trans did seem to shift a little smoother(might have just been in my head LOl)
any ways
then again at 125k, the trans had a total failure?
I had it taken to a AAMCO trans shop, and they installed a new rebuilt trans(3yr 36k warranty)
I was told the OEM trans failed due to the pump failed, which I gather was weak and not making pressure fast at start up which MAYBE explained the issue's it had
NOW< new trans, has same issue's on cold starts
AAMCO< dealer says all it exactly right, and has no answer to why it does this, other than saying its a design of the trans Issue??
NOW trans didn;t do this when truck was NEW( I'm the original owner)
so, if it was a design issue, it should ahve done this from day one?? or I think so??
SO question is(sorry long) is ,
Is this all Bullcrap, and is my new trans, a problem waiting to happen???
what woud cause this??
have about 6k on the new trans now, and as temps have gotten colder its becoming a bigger issue, taking longer to go, when in gear!
any help suggestions would be helpful
AAMCO dealer is like 80+ mile round trip every time I go, so, part of the issue too LOL

just hoping it outlast there warranty, and then can bill me again? LOL
and its a deal that sucks on me too, as don't need to have the down time of them playing guessing games with ot either, trying it up in a shop on me??
I was not really confident taing to this place in the begining, but sadly theer are NO otherdarn trans shop in the area
so was kinda stuck with these guys
even my local dodge dealer I think are worse, as to date they have been terrible to worrk with, screwed up a few things that were rather simple(the bent my drive shaft changinga U joint?? by forcing a wrong sized joint in??)
and a few other issue's that a GOOD dealer would have
OH well, have a 2+ yrs of warranty left so??
by them will more likely sell the truck ??
i would double and triple check tranny fluid level (engine running and in Neutral)... it sounds like low fluid, not enough pressure or the seal needs to be changed for tranny filter (a known problem in the earlier years)
well fluid has been checked about a dozen times, and its good, and I kjnow this isn't the issue
I did filter changes befroe on other trans when it did this and changed nothing
this trans is new, les than 6k on it now, did it a few times in the first 500 miles then worked fine, now temps are getting colder, it starting to do it again/more often
so I don't think its a filter issue, or fliud level issue
I more or less think it has to do with the pump, and its NOT working fast enough at start up, thus the lag
afterall, this is the second trans that did this, one OEM, one aftermarket
and been told now by 2 dodge dealers and the AAMCO< that this is normal for these dodge trucks??
I don't buy that, as a GOOD trans is just that
NOW Is ths a issue that will cause bigger issue's down the road ??
they al say NO
But then again, my OEM trans failed due to teh pump going out??
so, that is what has me worried
hunting season is here, and I get pretty far off road at times and if it fails there, a tow will get very costly, as few companys want to go back in the woods, plus just getting out on a flat bed will be almost impossible due to tree growing over the roads??
this is most of my worries, if it dies on the side of teh road like the first one did, , well NOT fun, but wasn't to hard to get towed?
SO< does anyone think my lag going into gear is issue waiting to happen, or, is this, as they say a common deal, adn all I should do is, start truck, let idle, in "N"
for a minute or so, the go??
as that is what there telling me to do, to solve the issue
guess they don't want to fix it or know how to LOL
so this they say solves the issue ??
and it does, but , that doesn't seem like something that should ahve to be done on a new trans> ??

really hard to say...I've swapped my tranny like 5-6 times (too much hp
), And I know a couple tranny's kind of behaved that way...so much that habitwise, I would shift to neutral for about 10 seconds before I shifted to any gears just to build up pressure.. I know there was a tsb for the filter seal which wouldn't keep the pressure when the motor was off for a period of time...

can you monitor tranny line pressure and temp? i know in my truck that I can monitor those pids with my diablo tuner...
