How to know if MDS has been disabled?
Sorry if this question has been asked, but I've been reading a lot of posts and almost all of the relate to how to shut MDS off....that's not exactly what I want to know.
I bought my 2006 1500 used (5.7 Hemi with MDS), and it had a flowmaster muffler on it. It didn't sound too bad, but I just wanted a quiet stock muffler, so I went back to one.
It got me wondering though, is there any way to know if the old owner somehow had MDS disabled as a lot of people want to do with the performance mufflers?
does it throw some sort of OBD code while its in 4 Cylinder mode?

It doesn't throw an OBD code when MDS is in operation because that is a programmed feature. You would need something that can read the PCM while in operation. Another option is try to plug a Superchips programmer (if you know someone with one, or you get one) to see if it will allow you to program. If it won't that means it wasn't put back to stock.
Off-Topic: let me know if you still have that flowmaster exhaust and live near New Jersey... I might be willing to take it off your hands after new years.
As for MDS... there really isn't a way to tell for sure if it's been disabled unless you have installed the MDS Status Light (there's a how-to online somewhere) or if you have a Programmer (like SuperChips or Diablo) which would allow you to turn it off/on at your leisure.
You can kind of feel it activate and deactivate at speeds between 25mph and 55mph when you're light on the throttle, but you will have trouble hearing it without a performance exhaust.
