Default Do I need a new Tank

I have a 2007 1500 with the 35 gal. tank. 4.7 L There is a round valve on the top front of the fuel tank that has a plastic nipple on it that connects to the vent line. This nipple has broken and I am told that valve is not available as a separate unit, that I have to buy the entire tank $800. Is that true? I know that tank is not made with that plastic valve already in it.

any chance you can post a picture of the part you're looking for? and the location of it on the tank?

From the sounds of it, I am doubtful you'll be able to find that part, most fuel tanks come with all of the nipples for the vents already installed on there. So I'm doubtful that it is even replaceable, but you never know. Best suggestion is if you have a junk yard that has a fuel tank, go take a look at it and see if that part is indeed removable. then take pictures and bring it to the dealer and see if you can find a part #....

JB weld or some type of Epoxy not efected by gasoline is your best friend at this point if something broke and is not repairable.

JB weld is fairly watery, but Industrial epoxy you let set up before applying and by the time you apply, it's pretty much non-flow so theres little chance of obstructing.
Besides, its worth a shot. If he needs to replace it anyways....

Maybe before just JB see if you can find some brass tubing at a hobby shop that fits tight in the ID. You can use that to help support the JB Weld.
