I have not checked the sending unit but at one point in the many times we tried to prime the pump we took the oil filter off and it was not full or even near full so we filled it up. To me that said we had no circulation. Im only going by what the dash guage said when it comes to preasure but at one point it sounded like I had lifter rap from lack of oil getting to the top of the motor.

Default No Oil Pressure After Pan/Gasket Replacement 2014 Ram

Just thought I'd add an experience I had recently regarding no oil pressure after replacing oil pan/gasket on 2014 Laramie Ram 1500 Long-Horn. After doing an onerous tear-down and upon reinstallation of oil pickup tube with new "o-ring", I noticed, after tightening front bolt of the oil tube (beside "o-ring" collar), I could see a bit of blue ring which puzzled me a bit but I continued thinking that was perhaps normal from what I could see. I finished job for a friend and he ran off and called me shortly me after to say truck shut off because no oil pressure. I assisted to tow him back as he didn't make it very far. I knew at that moment that o-ring was the issue. Tore down everything but transaxle lowering as I could slip my hand (barely) between pan and engine block. As gasket was now stuck to block, I could clearly see the pickup tube was not properly seated as o-ring is suppose to seat inside pump housing groove and pickup tube connector mates against pump body (or whatever it connects to). Somehow during initial installation, it went in slightly angled and binded leaving o-ring exposed and ineffective. Once I loosened connector bolt and, checked o-ring, and tried installation again, it went in smoothly 2nd time of course. And yes, there was some main bearing fragments in oil pan which worried me a fair bit. Refilled oil and truck fired up with good oil pressure this time and runs fine so far ( fixed 4 hours ago). What a lesson this has become so far-- I disregarded the o-ring flag in my head and it cost me a lot of frustration and obvious some damage to engine. Hopefully damage was minimal. What puzzles me is why this vehicle didn't give a ton of warnings and shut down when no oil pressure was detected-- or did my friend just not notice? Put some pics in of o-ring and mounting area. Please be careful installing the pickup tube. Cheers!
First Attempt

2nd Attempt

Groove inside for o-ring/ tube will be flush to body when properly installed o-ring

Tube not mated flat because of binding--even bolt not mating flat to connector- tell-tale sign of an issue if paying attention.

Are you saying you had to remove the pick up tube to change the pan? Or did you learn don't kick the sleeping dog?

Not the oil pan itself but the large metal gasket that essentially mounts above pickup tube-- tube has to be removed unfortunately.
