My heater -air cond switch is giving me problems.On start up, i usually have to switch to a-c and then back to heat to get any heat. Once on, the heat is good. Sometimes it takes a couple tries and sometimes the heat starts without the off-on move.

Welcome to the forum. You should still be under your 3-36 bumper to bumper warranty. I suggest taking it to the dealer.
