Default 4 wheel drive trouble

I only use my truck once every couple weeks and I haven't used my 4 wheel drive all season but while making a sharp turn on dry pavement yesterday I got that kindof resistance that felt like I was in 4 wheel drive. After going another mile or two I had to make another sharp turn and got the same resistance. I drove a short distance to a dirt road and accelerated quickly to get the tires to spin a little and only the rear wheels broke traction. The sluggish sharp turning continues and at one point while driving my 4 low light would flicker.(never seen that before). I have never used 4 low and wouldn't think I could drive a highway speeds if I was actually in 4 low. I moved the selector switch thru all three positions to confirm that the light on the dash matched up with the switch position. Drove 40 miles to get back home without trouble although no sharp turns on return trip

Check front u joints. May have one binding up while turning.

It will be the weekend before I can check them. I guess I am looking for excessive play ect. I could get the front tires off the ground and see how well the wheels spin and if they bind up when I turn. I am not sure if u-joints explains the 4-low light flicker but I gotta start somewhere. Thanks

No, where do you live, snow country? You can check the 4wd actuator motor on the front diff as well. Pull it out and have someone run the switch. It's possible to be stuck in 4wd with no light. Bad indicator switch.

No I don't live in snow country and I haven't checked the actuator. Did you say that it is mounted on the front differential? I am having trouble even finding one online for a 2006 megacab

My mistake, you said it was switch 4wd. Motor is on the t-case.
