Ported Throttle body for 4.7?
Have a question on the 4.7 engine for my friend. He is looking into getting a ported throttle body from The Fastman ported throttle bodies for his truck but he doesn't know if it really does anything for it? All he has on his truck now is a Superchip programmer and an Airaid Jr. kit tube. Anyone have experience with installing one of these? Thanks in advance.
Fastman is hit or miss, some have nothing but problems, others problem free and the maker of Fastman always blames the truck, never the TB, id there is a problem. IMO Hipotek is a much better product for the money. Gives the truck more low end "grunt", if you will. Better off the line.

AAAAHHHH yes the ole butt dyno that always agrees with you on a mod whether it helps or not, and always makes you feel like you accomplished something.....and is mostly wrong all the time
I believe the combination of mods I did in conjunction with the TB resulted in performance gains. I have no dyno numbers to back it up, only feel. Tuner, catback, e-fan, CAI, ported TB. Heck I even ran a "Power Wire" for awhile (made my own so it was free). I've tried just about everything. Some work, some don't. There are guys in the 3rd gen Dakota section that swear by the ported TB's and having that mod only resulted in gains that could be "felt". In the end it's up to you to decide if the cost is worth it. At this point, if I were your friend, I'd put the money into a free flowing exhaust first. Without a less restrictive exhaust, getting more air into the engine will do nothing. Remember, a gas engine is nothing more than a big air pump. Air in, air out.
