Today's cats are not the cats of the 70s and 80s. Stock cats in these trucks flow almost as well as "high flow" aftermarket cats.


Unless the cat is clogged, there is no reason to remove it...

Small town or not, still illegal. and wont pass inspection if you have it, and you will never be able to sell it to someone who has to have inspections. As Hammer states, no need to remove it unless it's clogged. If you think it's clogged, remove the front O2 sensor and see if it runs better. Removing the cat will do nothing but make the exhaust sting your eyes.
