Default 2008 Ram HEMI stalling issue

I have a 2008 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi. The engine has begun to stall out when at stop signs. The stall only occurs when the engine is at temperature. With the truck is in park the engine idles steadily at 600 rpm. With the engine in drive the rpm steadily lowers as well as the voltage. Sometimes the engine will catch itself around 400 rpm and rebound, other times it will stall out. If I notice it and put it into neutral the engine will idle steady at 600 rpm. I changed all the spark plugs about a month ago and just got done cleaning the throttle body. Neither if those seemed to fix the issue. What else might I try to correct this?

There may be a flash for that, you'd need to take it to the dealer and have them look it up though. Otherwise it could be the throttle body.

Good battery? Check charging system? Corroded connections?

rainman251,

I'm sorry to hear about your stalling concern. Are there any codes set? Does your truck start-up again right away?

There are no codes. Yes, the truck will restart immediately.

rainman251,

There can be a number of causes for a stalling condition. If the symptom is occurring regularly and can be duplicated, I would recommend a formal diagnosis. This will help to efficiently pinpoint the root cause.

I dropped the truck off at the dealer this morning for a diagnostic. They just called and said the only thing they saw was the PCM needed an update. Dealer said everything else was working properly. I am on my way to pick up the truck now and will post an update after I have some seat time to see if that fixed the issue.

rainman251,

Thanks for the update. Be sure to follow-up with the Service Manager at your Ram dealer if you have any questions pertaining to the work that is completed.

I have driven the truck for a while last night and this morning. It seems to run a lot more smooth and hasn't stalled on me. The idle is a little lower than I would like to see but I think the issue appears to be solved. Thanks for all the help on here!
