Default Hemi losing power

All,

I have an '03 Hemi Ram 2500.

Truck is having an issue with losing power and MPG has decreased to 9 MPG. Dealer cannot ID the problem.

Tuck has 60,000 miles approximately.

So far, the following has been done:
- Plugs have been changed and service is up to date
- Transmission has been checked and is functioning normally
- pressure test on the fuel system checked ok.
- no codes on the computer
- exhaust has been pulled off and back pressure appears normal.

Problem is persistent mainly when towing. I don't notice the issue with everyday driving except the sharp drop in MPG.

Thanks.

Change air filter, check for exhaust restrictions (cats), get injectors flushed.

Inspect brakes and check for any dragging calipers or worn wheel bearings.

.You may want to do a compression check to make sure you don't have a broken valve spring.

A broken valve spring is dreadfully apparent and wouldn't just present its self as a loss of MPG, considering OP states that the only apparent symptom.

Edit - As others in your previous thread suggested marnold, did you replace the O2 sensors? Forum members and the "certified tech" both suggested it.

I am working on it. Needed more information. Thanks prismatic. I have read about the broken valve spring issue. I will report back. I also suspect the O2 sensor. Thanks guys.

For sure. A broken valve spring won't idle and will run too rough to drive.
