Red face Sluggish Acceleration but everything else ok...please help!

Hey guys. I am very close to just taking my new 2005 4.7 4wd into the shop for a diagnostics, but would love to save some money and have you nice fellas help me out!

Anyway here's the deal: I just bought this truck a month ago, with 100k on it. It idles fine, shifts fine, no engine lights, no stalling. However, once I get over 30+ mph and I go to accelerate it is very sluggish. I'll ease it more and more gas and nothing (no rpm increase, no sound, nothing)... so I'll ease some more and then it kicks through like I floored it! The RPMs jump up and engine responds so I finally accelerate

Acceleration is very responsive at any speed under 30.

Everyone that has this issue seems to have the idle issues/stalling/etc too. I don't. It is just this one issue. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

since I've only had it less than a month, just an oil change and I replaced the camshaft position sensor as it threw that code. Thanks.

I'd change the plugs, PCV valve, and add a fuel cleaner and run with Super Unleaded for a few tanks. Go WOT to blow out any buildup.

did you change the crank position sensor at the same time? if not i would suggest doing that.

i changed both when my cam sensor went bad and i can tell you that the truck runs a lot different with the new sensors.

Smokin Joe: Any particular feul cleaner over others? I tried this last fill up (only once, and really havent run it WOT).

Stepaside: I did not change the crank sensor. Only the Cam Sensor. Wouldn't it throw a code for the crank sensor if that were the case? Also, did you have similar issues before you changed yours, and did a code come on for you?

I like Techron. Grab 3 bottles and carry them with you. Run the truck to 1/8 of a tank, pour 1st bottle in, fill to 1/2 a tank with super unleaded. Run to 1/8 a tank, pour the 2nd bottle in, fill to 1/2 a tank with super unleaded. Run to 1/8 a tank, pour last bottle in, fill up with super unleaded.

Even with the first bottle in, drive it like a rental.

Thanks Joe. I have an 800 mile drive coming up Monday, so that will be the perfect time for it. I'll keep the thread updated. Thank you!

yes i did have a gode only for the cam sensor though. after pulling the cam sensor and finding out how weak the magnet was i change both so i dont have to change the crank sensor later.

i didnt have a problem exactly like yours but i was having to go 3/4 throttle in most cases before the truck would react and accelerate, now it will gradually accelerate like it should.
