Default My Dodge power mirror exploded

I was driving down the road this morning and ka-pow, the mirror exploded.
It blew with such force that it blew the cover 50 feet.
I'm glad I had the window closed or glass would have gotten me.
Air temp was 25, the mirror was not being heated.
Has anyone heard of such a thing?
Scared the crap out of me I thought some one shot at me.
John

I bet something flew up off the road. Or someone did shot at you or threw something at you.

What year model? I have a pair of perfectly good heated power mirrors off my 04 that I don't need - replaced them with OEM tow mirrors.

Had that happen on a minivan we owned. Piece of wood was kicked up by another vehicle. Dented the drivers fender and door, blew the mirror into pieces and was hanging off the door by the wires.
