Default 2006 ram check gauges light

Hello people, I have 2006 ram mega cab with the 5.7 gas engine. When I first crank engine it starts fine but the oil pressure and the temp gauges do not work and the check gauges light stays on. So I stop engine and re-crank and everything OK. This will happen every time the truck sits for a few minutes. Battery new and cranks strong. Had a JET chip in it but did'nt help when I removed it. Thinking maybe bad ignition switch but happens the same way every time. Thanks

Check voltages to the sensors.

Do a cluster sweep test of the needles. I forget the procedure but do a search, I've posted it before. I think you hold the trip button down, turn the key On/off 3x's and leaving the key to the On position the 3rd time and release the trip button. The gauges should do a sweep test. This will confirm your cluster is not the issue. You do not start, just cycle to On. Please verify the procedure if this doesn't work. Been a while since I have done it.

When is the last time you changed oil. I have a 4.7 in the summer i run 10w30 but was slow to change it back to 5w30 for winter and had the problem with oil gauge working the same way. Did it everyday in the morning for a week. I change the oil and it was fine after that. Happened the same way 2 yrs in a row. Maybe oil pickup is dirty just a guess.

I try cluster sweep when I get home from work. I use 5w-30 full syn and have around 3000 miles on oil and normally go 7500. Time to get multi meter out. I leaning more towards oil psi problem. But only on first crank. Going to also check the sender when I get home. Thanks

He did say the coolant temp gauge was affected just the same so I was more inclined to believe they have a common link and aren't as obvious as sending units. Just too coincidental for me.

Yeah, I agree. Sometimes going to a full synthetic in an engine that's run Dino oil for a long time will loosen all the built up crud and it will clog the pump up - most often experienced at start up. But the fact the coolant gauge is acting up to would point me to sweep the gauges...
