Default 08 Starts runs 3 sec and dies??

periodically when I go to start truck it starts right up and runs for about 2-3 seconds…..then dies……Repeating this will not change situation. Later the truck just starts. Does the smart key talk to the ignition? Should a "regular" key start the truck as well as a smart key?

If you have a chipped key, you need it to start and stay running. If you are trying to run it with a non-chipped key, it will do EXACTLY what you described, start, run for a few seconds then the SKIM shuts it down. If you do this too many times it will lock out your PCM.

My 06 does this periodically. The key is not "talking" to the receiver. Solution is to disconnect the battery for a couple seconds. Happens maybe twice a year.

My 06 started doing this about a week ago. Starts, runs for a few seconds, dies. I have to turn key completely off, then start it again. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times. I tried disconnecting the battery but it is still doing this. Is the battery in my key getting weak? Why wont it "talk" to the receiver? Any help or a direction to start will be great. It doesn't do it every time. It does do it at least once a day though. I also read somewhere that if the truck battery is getting weak, it can start causing weird issues. Any truth to that? Thanks in advance

I will be interested to hear any knowledge on this issue. I heard there is a factory bulletin on this? My understanding is you have to wait 10 minutes after disconnecting battery.

So an update to this issue. I started using my wife's key to my truck which looks like new and rarely used. And so far this issue hasn't returned, 7 straight starts today with no issues. Next I'm going to replace the battery in my key and see if that has any effect.
