Default New ram owner with dumb questions

Just got an 05 2wd 5.7 and I notice when going in reverse, it won't move without pressing the gas. I guess I haven't driven an auto in a while, but isn't the same principle when putting into drive, the car will move at low speed without pressing the gas. Or does that not apply?

I also notice that when I put the truck into drive, that it's speed at idle seems to move slow. I figured with a powerful engine it would move a little faster right?

One other thing, when I start the truck, it seems like it will pause for a second as it cranks, and then start just fine. I don't know if this is normal. No check engine light anything.

My truck seems to have come without a bedliner as well. There is some surface rust. I was thinking of taking it to a place to do a spray on bedliner, will the rust be an issue? Also should I use rhinoliner?

You guys think I'm being picky here or does all this sound normal? The car seems to idle well, and seems very quiet. The power seems good to me as well.

Plan on checking stuff over tomorrow but wanted some opinions to see if these issues are really worth investigating.

Does this happen all the time with reverse or just when it's cold or been sitting?

Happens all the time. I put it in reverse, and take my foot off the brake. Truck won't move unless I use the gas pedal.

The bed liner place will scuff up the bed. No worries about the rust. Check your packing brake. Had an 04 do the same thing. Parking brake was sticking.

I am having trouble understanding your questions. Did you read the owners manual? I understand that there are different ways to start the vehicles. But most of them start either by the key or a push button on some of the newer cars. Wow! I sure helps you get on your way. Good Luck.:icon_imn otworthy:

Mine starts by rope. This forum is losing credibility.

Sorry, been boating all day and have had a few. My bad, I'll reprimand myself!
