MAGNAFLOW? HEMI WHICH ONE? RESONATOR? Y-PIPE? ORDERING TODAY HELP HURRY!
A few magnaflow questions for my 2005 Dodge Ram HEMI. I want to place the order asap today so I can have it for this weekend. So any quick advice would be helpful. My truck currently has superchips flashpaq and a AEM intake.
?1. Magnaflow mufflers 12259 vs. 12289. Which one do I want? I want it to rumble, have a deep low tone. Where I live everyone has 40 series flowmasters, I have had that before. That is to loud inside and outside for my wife’s liking. So using that as the comparison, which muffler to go with and also do I want to leave the stock resonator on or off?
?2. Ok, I have been told by many forum members get rid of the y-pipe. So I was going to replace the factory y-pipe with magnaflow part 10778. Forum members recommended this part, and making this change. Magnaflow just said that without adding major engine mods, like supercharger, nitrous, etc not to do this. They said the backpressure with the factory y-pipe is what you want. That on late model engines it isn’t wise to mess with changing that y-pipe? He said it would be extremely loud, have to little back pressure, etc etc. Is this BS?
So, which muffler? Resonator on/off? New y-pipe 10778?
I thought I had researched this to the max, and decided what I want. Not magnaflow has told me the exhaust I was hearing on their website is a longer muffler and no resonator! Before they told me completely different setup. So I don’t know what I am hearing, and obviously they don’t either. So any help would be appreciated as I plan to order within 2 hours. Thanks.

stick with a y-pipe unless you are going to do a supercharger or such. youll lose major back pressure with duals and that takes away most low end torque.
I am going to use a y-pipe, but I was told not to order the magnaflow y-pipe, part 10778! Magnaflow said to keep my factory y-pipe in tact because the magnaflow y-pipe will have to "LITTLE" restriction for the hemi? Thanks.
I am curious which one you go with as well. I am going to do pretty much the same thing. I'm actually surprised no one else gave you any advice?
I want to get the Magnaflo stainless steel single cat back exhaust for my truck, my cost is $499.00 for the parts. [8D]I want to get everyone's opinion about it as well. I want it to be mellow at idle and not loud on the hwy where it will be irritating on long trips. My understanding is that it is one of the quietest systems out there.
check out the prices from this place. i heard great reviews on the dynamax supermax longtube exhaust syste, but very expensive.
i havent made the purchase as of yet.

THe Magnaflow is a stainless steel system vs aluminum. That is why I want to get the Magnaflow....I'm just curious how it sounds.

All magnaflow systems are quality, btw. Talk to the reps...They know their stuff, and they won't leave you disappointed.
I have the Magnaflow Stainless Steel Catback kit 3" single (bought it from summit for $469). I get a lot of compliments on the way it sounds, although it does have kind of a nasty drone at 70 mph. The muffler is smaller then the stocker and it eliminates the resonator.
