Default 2005 Ram 2500 - Lights/warning lights issue IPM/FCM??

I've read some threads on similar problems and thought it was my Front Control Module but it didn't solve the problem. I'll explain and hopefully someone has had similar issues and a successful fix!

Vehicle is a 2005 Ram 2500 4x4 SLT Quad Cab, Cummins.

Issues:
  • Intermittent warning indicators on the dash with the chime - ABS&Brake, Air Bag
  • Gauges will occasionally go dead and the warning indicators for the fuel and engine will go off. They will go back to normal operation after a few seconds
  • On a few occasional ALL gauges go off and in the space where the odometer reading is it reads "no buS"
  • Headlights go off and on when the truck starts - switch is off
  • Dash lights dim and go bright as if the headlights were turned on and off
  • Turn signal operation goes out on occasion
  • Fog Lights turn on but are delayed
  • Wipers will turn on but are delayed and the intermittent wipers don't always work.
  • High Beam and brake light operation is intermittent.
Oh - and the entire rest of the truck runs just fine. After consulting the schematics it appeared that all of the systems that were malfunctioning were going into the FCM. I replaced it with a new one last night but I still had the lights, wipers, and ABS/Brake warning light issue this morning - and that annoying chime.

Could this be an issue in the Integrated Power Module? Is it worth spending the money to go get a new/used one? I just blew $272 on an FCM that didn't fix the problem. From what I read the new FCM doesn't need to be programmed but I could be mistaken.

Thanks for everyone's help!

AZ2CO - I realize this is a four year old post, but I have come across a very similar problem with my 05 2500. Parked it for 5 weeks - fine when I parked it. Picked it up, and the lights have gone stupid. Left low beam out, right high beam out, no front signals, no left rear signal/brake light, right rear normal. Lamp Out indicator lit on the dash, checked all the fuses, put power to the lights that aren't working and all lamps/fuses are good. Also, intermittent setting on the wipers works intermittently, and not the way it was intended to work!

What cured your unit?

Best regards,
J. McIntee.

My father's truck had a lot of the issues you have, in his case it was one of the computers in the truck. Can't remember which one it was, but he had to get them checked out.

Calgary ram,
did you figure out a fix for this? I just bought a 2004 ram 2500 for a toy and all the lights work but I am getting the “lamp out” light and chime when my blinkers are on only when I have my headlights on. If I’m driving during the day, I use my blinkers with no issue but when it’s night time and I’m running my headlights, the second I turn on a blinker the lamp out indicator and chime starts. I turn off my blinker and everything goes back to normal. Also I’ve noticed that my windshield wipers don’t work like you would expect them to. I didn’t pay that much attention to that tbh. It would only start the wipers when I turned them onto the fastest setting. Other times it’s worked flawlessly.

if anybody has this problem then let’s complain together but I’m hoping for a fix!!!

Hi - unfortunately, after the initial repair to the solder trace there was nothing obvious that would suggest it was the new issue that was messing with the fuel pump. After multiple disasseblies/reassemblies I gave up and ordered a replacement.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Cheers, and good luck.

Hi Acliff,
I'm wondering short of burning you're truck to the ground (which is about where I'm at)
Did you get to the bottom of you're issue.
My 04 3500 Cummins is doing the same thing but my turn signals flash fast only with park lights on......

I ended up finding a solution with mine. Turns out, before I bought my truck the headlights were changed out with an aftermarket headlight housings that looked factory. I believe the two outside wires are backwards in the aftermarket housings. If you unplug them and flip the plug over 180 degrees it may fix your problem. Let me know if this helps!
