04 Infinity door speaker BUZZ
K guys, have my truck in TWICE, and each time they ripped the strereo out and tested for blown speakers, twice and both times said everything was fine... even tried to blame it on my after market satellite radio (no connections to the stereo)... No, it started before the satellite anyhow... So whats the issue, is it the covers for the door speakers? I wanna listen to alittle BASS lol
Well, I don't have an answer for you, but mine is doing the same thing. Except in my case, its not the door speaker (bass signal receiving), but one above it. I only hear it on the passenger side. It's annoying enough that I notice it, but I can live with it for now I guess. I haven't had it turned up to any kind of levels that should have caused a problem this soon (I've only had the truck since June). I'm a little hesitant to take it back to the dealer as I have visions of low paid techs who don't know much about audio screwing it up even worse. From everything I've heard, the fact that it is an "Infinity" system is in name only. I think if I ever have the money to spend and the inclination, I'll take the truck in to a local custom audio shop and see what kind of ideas they come up with for replacing the stock system.
My 95 had the infinity "gold" system they put in it. very good at low volumes. I've never met a factory stereo system that was worth a penny when you tried to turn it up though. To get bass you need wattage. Factory systems dont have it. They falsely advertise their stereos. They will call it a 200w system, but all that means is its a 50w system with 4 speakers. Best advice i can give you is to lose the factory setup and go aftermarket from front to back.
I have aftermarket infinity speakers and have never had a problem, i have always used infinity as i think they do make some of the best 6x9s in the market for the price.
Try checking the possitive and negative connections, most people say it does not matter but trust me it DOES!
Also it might be the location of the speaker, the magnet being very close to metal and also other electrical items which could cause problems. To stop this i done this, 1) to play safe of interfearence and 2) to show off the speakers
and 3) less rattle inside the door.

Also a quick question, do you have a sub, this can cause a buzzing/whinning noise some times.

Like clemson 725 said, the factory systems are usually junk. An exception is the Mark Levinson system available in Lexus'.
That being said, upgrade the speakers and you will notice a huge difference. The factory speakers, regardless of sound package (Bose, Infinity, etc), are made from paper cones and distort easily. I had a friend install a pair of cheapy Dual speakers from Best Buy and sounded 10 times better than factory.
If you plan on listening to music at loud volume levels, get a good amp. You do more damage to speakers with a low wattage source (head unit) playing at a high level, than with a high wattage amp. Distortion is a huge killer of speakers. I think that buzzing you're hearing is the head unit attemption to put too much power through a cheap speaker.

Well there was a TSB out that the POS and NEG wires were backwards on the passenger door infinity speaker... thought i found the solution, my then found out my build date was after they discovered the problem so it didnt apply... i think i saw another TSB about the speaker cover... i dont listen to music loud just want my speakers to work right.
