Default Test ride with rear drive shaft removed?

Anyone know if I can remove the rear drive shaft and cruise down the road in 4HI on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 to try and pinpoint where I have a vibration?

I am reading that if I don't have a slip yoke, I can do it... not sure what I have in the transfer case. The transmission is the 545RFE auto.

Thanks.

You can, but there is a possibility that fluid will run out since the yoke is not there to seal the output shaft.
