getting wheels replaced by insurance is there a difference
I am getting new wheels from my insurance company because mine where stolen from my 2005 dodge ram. I had the 20"x9" Clad wheels, and the repair shop asked me if they where the polished aluminum or the chrome ones. Are there two types out there and do they look alike. I was not sure so I told him the Chrome ones and that is what he ordered. And if there are two types are they both plastic on the inside of the wheel (or what they call CLAD) Thanks

RE: getting wheels replaced by insurance is there a difference
Clear-coated wheels are NOT to be polished (at least, not with wheel/metal polish since it damages the clear-coat) any more than the clear-coat on the body! One problem is that brake-dust can damage the clear-coat unless quickly removed. This is one reason why I prefer any polished aluminum wheels to be uncoated. Just hit them with the Mother's or Semi-chrome metal polish once or twice a year to "clean up." Also, the inevitable nicks can be sanded and polished out with an appropriate buffer and rouge.
All the best.
