K&N CAI or should I get a different 1, Is there a Motor cover after CAI Install?
On the 3815 SC Flashpaq people have dyno claimed 28hp to the wheels and almost 40ft pounds of torque on the 91 tune and honestly dyno numbers don't even say the whole story, when you put your foot into it you'll think the 28whp is a conservative estimate, definitely the best bang for the buck, theres lots of hidden power in these Hemi Engines. With this tune you WILL EAT Diesel trucks for breakfast and watch their coal rolling heads spin in your rear view mirror.
Used to be the trans package was an add on. Don't know if it's still an extra cost. The canned tunes do wonders with the shift points as it is. You can really screw up the transmission if you don't know what you are doing with the shift points. I bought the trans package with mine but could never create anything that was better than the canned tunes. IMO, don't worry about the trans package for now. And no, they don't come with instructions. We made a thread in the 3rd gen Dakota section. You can get an idea about what's involved.

Its kind of self explanatory, it walks you through and shows you shift points. Its been almost 2 years since I've tuned my truck but I could probably plug it back in and find you a menu and show you what I did. Once the tuner saved my trucks factory tune it took maybe 10 minutes to set everything up. My shifts are faster & firmer, if I remember correctly it shows you mph for standard shifts and where you would like them and you can choose what works for your rev limiter as well.
I raised my rev lim to 6150rpm before I got to the shifts point menu and so I assume with that in regard the tuner gives you a set of shift points to take advantage of the rev limiter by holding gears out longer. I just chose the first option for everything and have been pretty happy, I was too horny to try the tuner out so I really didn't care about fine tuning the trans, but with that said the trans shift points I hastily picked I LOVE!. Just remember, if you screw up and don't like your shift points or tune in general don't worry, it has a backup file and everything is pretty easy to navigate.

Yeah, I believe mine was a 3865 Flashpac. It took me awhile to get the hang of the custom shift points. You could easily overlap points if you weren't careful and that made the trans do all sorts of funny things...lol
Watch what you truck does stock, and use that as a gauge to what you want to tweak.
Yeah, we had a whole spreadsheet and graphs and stuff for figuring all that out. Too bad, looks like the spreadsheet links in the thread I linked above are dead. Once I plotted it all out, it was easy enough after that, but still, I cold never get one as good as the canned tune. I got close, but it was a lot of work.
