Looking at 2007 RAM 1500 4X4 - ideas?
Hi, usually in the Dakota forum, but thinking about an upgrade. Haven't seen the truck yet, but looked at the online ad - it's a 2007 4X4 single cab 8 foot bed 4X4 with 79,000 miles and the 4.7 engine, auto trans. Has a hitch and whoever had it before (Dealer ad.) left the ball hitch in the receiver.
Did some reading on this site, by 2007 had most 4.7L issues been resolved and is this a reasonable engine for the truck. I am not towing heavy loads, just using it for household chores 90 percent of the time.
Can't figure out if this model year has the 4 or 5 speed auto - or does it really even matter in terms of gears and smoothness?
Will the trans hold up all things being equal if the person towed with it. I know assuming it towed reasonable loads?
Since it has 4 wheel drive it kind of interests me - my Dakota does not, very base level model and of course I would have to get rid of it to buy this one.
Thanks again for any ideas, warning or cautions.
Mike
