Found one of the retaining clips in the bottom of the pumpkin today. The rear end was not showing any signs of problems. Rather tha buying a new carrier, can I just buy a new retaining clip, or should can I remove both clips and just run without them?

NO !!They are a major item.Just replace with the press in Green bearing.Shop can have you in& out in 2 hrs.Just a Thought............

 

They are only used to hold the clutch pack together during assembly. Once assembled they are useless. If yours came out, don't worry about it. Change the oil and keep driving it.
