Default code for clogged converter?

Hey guys. I have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9 gas motor. The past couple weeks i have noticed a slight rotten egg odor coming from my exhaust after its warm. My first thought is i have a clogged converter, or its at least starting to get clogged. I called a local shop and he asked if my check engine light came on and i said no. He told me that i shouldn't worry to much about it until my light comes on. Will it throw a code if the converter is clogged?? Not sure if its new enough for the computer to sense that?

I haven't really noticed a loss of power or anything, yet. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help.

No. You will get a cat inefficiency code. Does the truck have plenty of power? Good flow of exhaust from the tail pipe?

power seems to be ok still. But you saying that it will throw some sort of code answers my question. just not sure if i should wait to get it tested or not. Maybe its not bad enough to even register as bad or inefficient yet.

It's also possible the insides of the cat will just blow out the tail pipe. If the truck seems to run ok. IMO just go with it, until you notice a change.
