Default 4.7 stalls, map sensor?

03 1500 with 4.7. Engine runs fine with no codes except within a minute of startup after going about 500 feet it begins to bog down as if starving for fuel. If accelerator is pushed to wide open it will recover and drive fine until turned off. Have cleaned throttle body but could this be a sensor issue? Thanks for any help.

No codes at all? Sensors create codes, so probably not a bad sensor.
After all, they're there to detect problems. They're your friend!

I'd recommend having this addressed during your recall appointment. Feel free to DM if you're in need of further assistance. - Kevin T, Social Connect Team

Check the fuel pressure. Could be a fuel pump going bad or a bad check valve if there is one. A fuel pressure gauge will answer both questions. Might be able to borrow one from your auto parts store.

Thanks friar, i had just read a post about stalls after startup indicating a possible pump issue. Going to check service manual look into checking the pressure.

Question

Does the pressure hold steady after you shut it off?

When key is turned to on position pressure goes to about 10, when engine is started it goes to 46 pretty quickly. While the engine was still cold if it is switched off the pressure would drop to 25 in 30 seconds and down to about 15 in a minute and gradually dropping. When the engine is warmed up then switched off it seems the pressure would hold steady around 46. Could I be getting air into the fuel line and the hesitation after startup is the air purging out? Thanks for any help!

Almost sounds like the pump is dying. Or pressure regulator issue.
