I have a 2002 ram and i had the rear end lock up while driving the other day. Driveshaft feel onto the ground and everything. I know its a common issue but has anyone else gone through this recently? I'm looking for options on how to fix this without breaking the bank. I popped open the cover and a few gears have pieces broken off. Can i just buy all the gears and replace them or am i better off getting a new rear end?Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

 

look at the tsb for your years truck, they may have a recall for the c-clips. if not you will need a new ring and pinion, go to a reputable shop for the work

 

New R&P or find an 02-08 axle with the same gear ratio in good shape and swap it in.
