I have a 2005 quad cab Ram 1500 4x4 w/ 4.7L w/ automatic
owned since new

I want to buy a parts truck, I'M STILL DRIVING MINE W/ 168K ON IT but want to rebuild An engine & trans, rear end for it soon as this ones racking up the miles. I'm chasing down the "hard downs shift" issue now (TPS & MAP)
So far I've learned :
a 2005-2007 4.7L w/EGR will interchange
& a 2003-2007 5-45RFE 4x4 trans will interchange

IS THIS CORRECT?? thank you in advance. Bob Gunns

 

You can use any RFE pretty much, even 2wd. You'd just have to remove the tailshaft and swap over the TC adapter. Same trans otherwise.

 

Thanks !!, what about 2005 4.7L Engine interchange? , it seems 2004 had with or without EGR, & JTECH comp. &diff tone wheel. Then in 05 they added knock sensors & EGR, then in 08 it had 2 spark plugs per cylinder, I figured ,By process of elimination, '05-'07 4.7L plug & play . same 32 tone wheel & NGC computer (4 plug ecm) Any Help Here?? thanks.
