Hello I need help here. I have a 04 hemi 1500 that has a 9.25 3.92 rear end that's bad. I also have a wrecked 03 hemi Durango with a 8.25 3.92 rear end with under 50,000 miles on it. Can I just swap them. I can see I will have to weld on and cut off the spring mounts but what other issues am I not seeing here. Truck is a 2wd wile the Durango is 4x4. Not sure if the width is the same or not either.
You do not have an 03 hemi Durango unless you put it in there. The 8.25 is not a good fit for your Ram. Find a 9.25 rear from an 02-08 Ram 1500, it will be plug and play.

yes it is a 03 hemi per the tag on the door. It may Be made late in the year idk but it is tagged as a 03 and has a factory hemi I do appreciate the advice and will bite the bullet and rebuild the 9.25 thank you
You can use ANY chrysler 9.25 rearend, from 2x4 or 4x4 V6, 4.7 or Hemi equiped Ram. The only difference is 2x4 rears don't have bump stops on the diff, you can always weld them on, but honestly unless you're doing steep articulation you won't ever need them. I've got a 2x4 rear in my truck currently, never once hit the bump stops.
