Default Plow frame Interchagability between Gen 2 and 3 Rams?

I have a '99 RAM 1500 with a Meyer Minute Mount plow. This truck is rusted to the door handles and on it's deathbed. I am considering getting a Gen 3, probably an '06-'09 Quadcab this year. Can I assume that the Meyer plow frame from my G2 RAM will bolt to the G3 truck frame?

TIA

JH

I highly doubt it, the frames are drastically different between 2nd and 3rd gens unfortunately.

3rd gen 1500s aren't built or rated for plows, though... unless you like an airbag in your face. I've read about people on here doing it, but consensus was that it is not advised.

Theres plenty of 3rd Gen & 2nd Gen Rams around me with plows. They're more than capable trucks for snow plowing, strength wise and durability, the frames are much stronger than the 2nd gen. As for airbag sensors, I haven't heard of anyone with a 3rg Gen thats had a airbag pop while plowing.

If you're worried in the event that an air bag might go while plowing, turn off passengers side airbag that way all you have to replace is the steering wheel air bag (easy to replace and low risk to gamble) you won't have to worry about breaking your dash then.

Also regardless of whether or not you're worried about an air bag I'd be careful jolting any truck you care about with enough force that it'd take to pop an air bag. If you plow fresh snow you should have no problems. Ramming frozen hard pack snow banks probably isn't too swift of an idea to begin with, with any truck!.

2500 + is fine. 1500 is not advised per the manufacturer.

I have been plowing for the past 7 years with a 2004 Ram 1500 Quad Cab short bed. I have about 15 customers residential and have had not one problem plowing here in Boston. I have a fisher HD 7.5 plow. Yes plow installers her in Ma would not install the plow because it is not rated for the plow. So I called Portsmouth Ford and no problem they installed it. All I had to do was get a heavy duty clutch fan because of it running hot when plow was on. Heavy duty clutch fan and all has been good. never heard of airbags going off as that could happen to any truck a 2500 or a 3500.
I load the back with 400lbs of sand and some rocksalt in bed and have never gotten stuck anyplace. Truck has been nothing but great for me plowing. No front end problems or engine problems. Mine is the 4.7 2004 with 82k miles. If ya take care of the trucks in off season you should be all right with a 1500 plowing. *****Just have to find someone to do the install.

Goog Luck
