How many quarts of tranny fluid after solenoid swap
How many quarts should it take in a 45rfe after changing the solenoid block and both filters? Before changing it registered about 1/2 inch below full mark. Approximately 7 quarts came out, just seems like a lot. Truck was at operating temp in neutral, went thru all the gears, it's a 2002 ram 1500 4x4

Last time I changed mine out I left it to drain overnight and I had bought 3 gallons of mopar atf+4 and the 2 filters for the change. I just went to see how much I had left over to answer your question. I have most of 1 gallon left over (6-7qts)
I added a Mag Hytec trans pan too so it added a little bit but I really don't think it added much. It was more for ease of draining before dropping the pan plus there should be some cooling effect due to the finned aluminum.
So it took over 8 quarts if you let it sit like I did.
I remember being very careful not to overfill and ran it on several short trips to get it up to temperature and one thing I was told is very important is filling with the frame level. I have a factory 2 1/2" rake and have to allow for that when checking my oil and transmission levels. I also understand it is better to be just barely over the line and not below.
Hope this helps!
