mystery part

Found this dangling by drivers gas pedal.
It gets hot.
Unplugged it truck still runs OK:-)
Anyone know wtf this is?

everything seems fine with the controls
the only thing I have noticed with this truck is you can't turn the key backwards for accessory

Not sure about yoursbut some ignitions don't go back for ACC, some are
LOCK/OFF-ON/ACC-RUN

Being the part gets warm/hot means its magnetic usually... just reach under with it as see what the parameter is that it will reach...bound to see where it came off at...

Can you shift out of park without pressing the brake?

It is the BTSI connector. It's what prevents you from shifting into gear without stepping on the brake.
